Blood in the Mobile

ABOUT THE FILM

Blood in the Mobile is the name of an upcoming documentary film by Guerilla Girl director Frank Piasecki Poulsen on the illegal mining in the war torn Eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The war has cost almost 5 mio. lives and is the bloodiest conflict since Second World War.

10 YEARS OLD STAYING 72 HOURS UNDERGROUND

Frank has done four trips to the area where he visited the biggest and most notorious mines in Eastern DR Congo – the mine in Bisie – where children down to the age of ten spend up to 72 hours in narrow mine tunnels.

The minerals dug out in the mine in Bisie and other illegal mines are used to produce key components in mobile phones.

In January 2010 the making of the film has been going on for one and a half year, and this is also precisely how long it has been taking to get an interview with the largest mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.

The film will have Danish theatrical release in September 2010 and international premiere in November.
